The Nature Connection: An Untapped Therapy for Loneliness and Depression

DO WE REALLY NEED HUMANS TO FIND A FRIEND? One of the most underrated abilities we can develop is the ability to OBSERVE the living world around us. In The Elephant in the Brain, we are invited to think about the hidden dimensions of human behaviour. Extending our curiosity beyond human interactions, there is another fascinating dimension worth exploring: our relationship with other living beings. Think about it! An insect crawling on the ground, a bird sitting on a branch, a butterfly hovering around flowers, a tree standing silently beside a road, or even an ant carrying a piece of food — every living being has something to reveal to an observant mind. Our ancestors understood this relationship much better than we do today. Consider a few fascinating illustrations from literature and history: Ramayana: Bhagwan Ram, while searching for Mata Sita, addresses birds, animals and other creatures: เคนे เค–เค— เคฎृเค— เคนे เคฎเคงुเค•เคฐ เคถ्เคฐेเคฃी। เคคुเคฎ เคฆेเค–ी เคธीเคคा เคฎृเค—เคจैเคจी॥ His interaction with...

SPEAK LESS THAN NECESSARY

LAW 4: ALWAYS SAY LESS THAN NECESSARY An interesting lesson from Robert Greene's The 48 Laws of Power Robert Greene, in his book The 48 Laws of Power, narrates the story of Coriolanus, a celebrated Roman military commander, whose achievements on the battlefield earned him immense respect and admiration. After returning victorious from military campaigns, Coriolanus decided to enter politics and seek the position of consul. He had everything that could support his ambition: military achievements, public recognition and an impressive reputation. However, there was one problem. Coriolanus could not control his words. Instead of communicating with humility and understanding the sentiments of ordinary citizens, he often spoke arrogantly and revealed his contempt for them. His manner of speaking gradually damaged the public support he had earned through his military accomplishments. Eventually, his inability to exercise restraint in communication contributed to his political ...

Listening skills is the key to Effective Communication

Law 9 of The 48 Laws of Power: Win Through Your Actions, Never Through Argument A popular anecdote about Michelangelo’s masterpiece, David, offers a powerful lesson in listening. When the Duke suggested changes to the statue’s nose, Michelangelo reportedly listened patiently. Instead of arguing, he pretended to make a few adjustments, letting marble dust fall. The Duke felt satisfied, while Michelangelo preserved his artistic vision. The Moral: The Art of Listening Great listeners do not react to every opinion with an argument. They listen to understand, respect the other person’s perspective, and respond with wisdom. Listening is a sign of strength, not weakness. You can respect an opinion without accepting it. Not every disagreement deserves an argument. Sometimes, silence and thoughtful action are more powerful than words. Remember: The best communicators make others feel heard without losing sight of their own purpose. #ListeningSkills #Leadership #Communication #Emotio...

MONARK UNIVERSITY: FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

These are the slides mainly used in the Teachers training Program in Monark University Ahmedabad.  Alvin Toffler, An anthroplogist how he analysed entire human civilizations and explained evolution of human civilization. Different era had different aspirations and perspectives.  1. Nomads 2. Agricultural Era  3. Industry Era  4. Knowledge Era and so on  This slide explains how Japanese evolved themselves after second world war. A society which was war mongering became highly disciplined constructive development oriented. They changed their education system into problem solving mindset based.  This slide has taken two examples one is Mr Ganesh Maru who is serving asedicalnofficer in a Government Hospital in Bhavnagar. And Mr Uttam Maru is serving Saurashtra University as an Associate Professor in Sanskrit. Both of them challenged the Nature and today have proven that body is just a mean mindset is the key to success.  ...

Suggest an Apt Title for this School

A Unique School Where Education Goes Beyond Textbooks! A few days ago, I had the opportunity to visit a school that offers a remarkable experiment in education, challenging many of our conventional assumptions about teaching and learning. The most fascinating aspect of this school is that it has a hostel but no permanent school building. Every morning, students arrive, set up their own tents, arrange their seating, and prepare for the day's academic activities. The entire campus is filled with mango, guava, and other fruit-bearing trees. Here, nature becomes the classroom, and life itself becomes the textbook. Education here is not merely about learning to read and write; it is about learning how to live. Students and teachers work together to prepare the timetable for the following week. This collaborative process helps students develop participation, decision-making, time management, and a sense of collective responsibility. The campus has a wide range of vehicles, fr...

Weaponisation of Educational Sentiments

Weaponisation of Educational Sentiments: Analysing Student Protests in India and France Introduction Education is not merely a public service; it is deeply connected with the hopes, aspirations and anxieties of society. Across cultures, parents and citizens share a common concern: securing a brighter future for the next generation. Consequently, any movement associated with students, educational institutions, examination systems or the quality of education carries considerable emotional and social significance. This emotional connection makes education a powerful instrument for mobilising public opinion. When genuine grievances are ignored, collective protest can become a legitimate means of demanding accountability and reform. However, the same emotional sensitivity can also create opportunities for political mobilisation, ideological competition and the amplification of public discontent. This raises an important question: When does an education-related movement remain a legitimate d...

Flower Kids School, Sagwara: A Remarkable Example of Collective Social Responsibility

Flower Kids School, Sagwara: A Remarkable Example of Collective Social Responsibility What an inspiring institution! Flower Kids School, Sagwara, has a hostel capacity of more than 5,000 students, including boys and girls. What makes this institution truly remarkable is that it is managed by retired teachers and principals who continue to dedicate their lives to the cause of education. The community's contribution is equally extraordinary. ๐ŸŒพ Food from Their Own Land: Villagers donate essential food grains and other food items, including wheat, rice and pulses. They strongly believe that children should eat food grains grown on the very land to which they belong. ๐Ÿค A Tradition of Giving: Villagers contribute their first salary earned at the beginning of their professional careers towards this noble cause. ❤️ Giving Back After Retirement: Some people also donate a small percentage of their Provident Fund (PF) or gratuity after retirement to support the insti...

An Inspiring Lesson in Compassion, Financial Literacy

An Inspiring Lesson in Compassion, Financial Literacy and Social Responsibility Recently, I visited a school in Bharuch managed by a charitable trust, and I came across a truly inspiring initiative. The students of this school create handicraft products and sell them outside the school at their convenience. The money they collect is used for charitable purposes, making their efforts a beautiful example of learning beyond textbooks. Last year, these young students contributed towards cataract surgeries for elderly people. This year, they are extending their support by offering 150+ sarees and an equal number of men's garments to an old-age home. What makes this initiative truly special is that these children are learning much more than the value of money. They are discovering the joy of earning through their efforts, sharing what they earn, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. BACKBONE is the backbone of life

The biggest challenge today is keeping our backbone straight, flexible and active. Ironically, our gadgets are keeping us rigid, less flexible and increasingly inactive. Your backbone reflects your age, agility and fitness. So, let’s move more, stretch more and sit less. Let’s break free from the slavery of gadgets and give our body the freedom to move. Stay active. Stay flexible. Stay free.

Decision Making @ Mahabharat

A Lesson from the Mahabharata: *Never Decide on Half-Information* When Dronacharya, the commander of the Kaurava army after Bhishma, heard that Ashwatthama had been killed, he was deeply shaken. Knowing Yudhishthira for his commitment to truth, he approached him to confirm the information. Yudhishthira said, “Ashwatthama is dead”—referring to an elephant named Ashwatthama. Interaction with Academicians in BHUJ & GANDHIDHAM

It was a great time being with Academicians in BHUJ & GANDHIDHAM. Had a rigorous discussion on role of social media and Artificial intelligence in the Viksit Bharat 2047.  more than 300 schools participated in both of the cities.  Had an opportunity to meet my Friends like Mr Smit Maheshwari and a few others.  Trust, meeting friends gives immense pleasure as well as increases dopamine positively.
